IPTV EPG Wrong Time — How to Fix
If your IPTV EPG is showing programme times that are off by one, two, or even several hours, you are experiencing one of the most commonly reported IPTV issues. The good news is that it is almost always fixable. This Q&A guide covers every question users ask about IPTV EPG wrong time problems.
Why is my IPTV EPG showing the wrong time?
The most common cause is a time zone mismatch. EPG data is generated from a server in a specific time zone, and if your IPTV app does not automatically match this to your local time zone, the guide will appear offset. Norwegian time (CET/CEST) is UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer. If your EPG appears 1–2 hours behind or ahead, a time zone setting is almost certainly the cause.
How do I fix the EPG time in my IPTV app?
In most IPTV apps there is a specific EPG time offset setting. Open your app’s settings or preferences, look for a section labelled EPG, Programme Guide, or Time Offset, and adjust the offset by +1 or +2 hours to match your local time. The exact path varies by app, but it is present in IBO Player Pro, TiviMate, BOB Player, and UHF Player. Try incrementing by one hour, then reload the EPG to see if the times now match your local clock.
Does daylight saving time cause EPG wrong time errors?
Yes. When clocks change in the spring and autumn, apps that hard-code an offset can suddenly appear wrong by one hour. If your EPG was correct until recently and has now shifted by exactly one hour, the clocks have changed and you need to update your app’s EPG offset setting. Norway switches between CET (UTC+1) and CEST (UTC+2). Check your app settings after every clock change.
My EPG offset is correct but the time is still wrong — why?
If adjusting the offset in your app has not resolved the issue, the EPG data source itself may be providing times in an unexpected format. Try clearing your app’s EPG cache, then re-downloading the EPG URL. In TiviMate this is under Settings → Programme Guide → Clear Cache. In IBO Player Pro, look for Refresh EPG. After clearing and refreshing, check if the times are now correct.
What if my EPG is not loading at all?
An EPG that fails to load entirely is a different problem from wrong times. First confirm that you have an EPG URL in your app settings — if none is present, your subscription credentials should include one. If you have lost the EPG URL, contact us via WhatsApp and we will resend it. Also confirm your device has a stable internet connection, as EPG downloads can fail silently on unreliable connections.
My live stream and EPG do not match — the current programme shown is wrong
This is a related but separate issue. If the EPG is loaded and times look correct, but the programme listed for a live channel does not match what is actually broadcasting, the EPG source for that channel may be inaccurate or the channel may have shifted its schedule. This is an upstream data issue that periodically affects any IPTV EPG. For core channels you watch regularly, the EPG should be accurate. For smaller channels, occasional mismatches can occur. See our FAQ for more details.
Does the EPG work on all devices?
EPG functionality depends on both the IPTV app and the device. Our recommended apps all support EPG natively. Some budget Android TV boxes have limited RAM and may struggle to load large EPG datasets — in that case, consider setting a shorter EPG refresh window (e.g. 3 days rather than 7 days) to reduce the data size. On Smart TVs, EPG support varies by app — IBO Player on Samsung and LG provides full EPG integration.
How often should the EPG refresh?
Most apps refresh the EPG automatically every 24 hours. This is sufficient for accurate programme listings. If your EPG seems stale or is showing yesterday’s schedule, trigger a manual refresh in your app settings. Setting the refresh to run overnight means the EPG is always up to date when you start watching in the evening.
Can I use a different EPG source?
Yes. If the EPG URL provided with your subscription is not meeting your needs, you can replace it with a public EPG source compatible with your region. However, the EPG URL included with your IPTV Reseller subscription is specifically matched to your channel list, so replacing it with a third-party source may result in channels showing no programme data. We recommend using the provided URL unless you have a specific reason to switch.
